Office 2003 Error 1327: Invalid drive x
I needed to give Microsoft Word 2003 the ability to read .cgm files for a class I am taking that uses SAS. So I went into Control Panel --> Add/Remove Programs --> Microsoft Office 2003 Professional and clicked the “Change” button. I had the Office2k3 CD in the drive so the “I'm getting ready to change stuff around” window popped up and then BAM! it was gone and I was left with an error message reading “Error 1327: Invalid Drive F:/”......oooopppsssss!!!!!.....when I decided to use that partition for Linux I forgot that I had used it to hold a local copy of my Office install files. But thanks to the magic of Google I learned that all I needed to do was edit a registry key...fire up regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Delivery\
then go ahead and change LocalCacheDrive to a valid drive letter...I changed mine to C.
