This is one the coolest things I have seen in a long time and I have finally have a post that combines two of my favorite things; technology and triathloning.  Accenture has developed this technology so that people who have friends, spouses, *cough* room mates *cough*, etc. racing can recieve messages detailing the progress of their racers.  The messages are sent to a home phone, cell phone, PDA or similar instant messaging device.  I'm assuming that is used in conjuction with the small time chips that are normally worn acround a racers ankle.  The chips register with something when you run over these pads they place at the entrance and exit of transition areas and the race organizers use those registered times to let you know how much time you spent on each leg of the race and in the transition area.  This is a really neat application of technology.  I am going to do my best to try and figure out how it works so expect more on this topic.  It will be available for the 2004 Accenture Chicago Triathlon which yours truely will be kicking ass in.  I wonder if I can somehow get this thing to send messages to a windows service on my laptop that posts those messages to the blog....
