Base 2 Week 6 /Power Endurance Week 5: 10 May 2004 - 16 May 2004
24 May 2004:
I figured out something very important today. Although it sounds very obvious its harder to practice than it sounds at 6:30 AM....if I concentrate on my stroke the entire, not how much I've gone or how far I still need to go I end up swimming much more efficiently. Thus, I can swim faster longer. I need to keep this up. This can't be “on a good day“ training habit. The stroke is the key to swimming; not cadence, not strength, the stroke.
- Warmup: 200 free; I averaged about 23 strokes per length
- 500 free 10:18
- 2:30 rest
- 500 free 10:09
- 2:30 rest
- 500 free 10:16
- 2:30 rest
- 500 free 10:24
- ?:?? rest
- Cooldown: 100 breast
TOTAL: 2300 yds.
I ran home from work in about 34:52. You know how long it takes me take the “el” home? LIKE 40 MINUTES!!! THATS FREAKIN' RIDICULOUS!!! I SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RUN HOME FASTER THAN IT TAKES ME TAKE THE EL!!!!! Alright, enough of my ranting...so that was about 4.25 miles (from Munroe to Diversey) which means I was about an 8:20 mile on average...not too shabby but it still needs to be a lot better.
