2004: Important lessons I've learned this season
Things I learned this season:
Things I learned this season:
- Time
spent in the weight room pays off.
- Nutrition
is extremely important, especially proper amounts of protein….I think lack
of protein and increase in intensity and frequency of workouts is what
caused me to get sick.
- A
large breakfast about 2 hours before race start works best for me:
- Cup
of coffee
- Lots
of water . . . REMEMBER TO USE THE FACILITIES BEFORE THE RACE ;)
- Hash
browns
- Omelet
with meat and vegetables . . . NO CHEESE!
- Toast
- I need
to swim in the lake more often
- Sleep
= Speed (thanks Mary and Kelly)
- It’s
definitely not about the bike…but I imagine I would be significantly faster
on something other than a mountain bike with slicks.
- The
Big Spin on Wednesday nights is great for winter training on the bike.
- I need
to concentrate more on biking instead of swimming and running because the
bike is the longest leg of the race and if I’m a better biker I’ll in turn
have more energy to run faster.
