Since I'm talking about hard drives and fragging.  After I got everything restored and moved back to the single remaining HD, I started defragging all of the partitions. 

What I didn't realize was that my iPod showed up in the list as a removable HD, and I had included it. Later I noticed that the progress had seemed to slow considerably.  Then I noticed that it was defragging the iPod.  Even worse, it was charging too.  I stopped it, picked up the iPod to check it out and it was burning up.  It was so freaking hot, I was sure it was ruined.  It wouldn't play and the menu was acting funny.

After it cooled, it started working again and seems to be ok now.  I caught it about 1/4 of the way through the process, I hate to think what would happen if I let it go all the way through.
