Just moved in...
... from out of town, so I thought I'd tell you a little about myself before I start moving my old posts over.
Who? I am Paul Bartlett, and live in Colnbrook (a small village at the end of the runway at London Heathrow) with my wife Rosie and (almost) two year old daughter Sophie. I have worked in IT for 9 years now, doing roughly the following:
- ICL/TeamWARE: Terminal-based X.400 e-mail (C/UNIX) and a Windows client (VB4)
- CMG: Billing system for industrial/commercial gas market (Oracle, SQR, USoft, Perl, UNIX)
- INPHASE: Enterprise Performance Management (ASP, VB6, VC++/ATL, SQL Server)
- Thomson Financial: Equity trading software (VC++/ATL/WTL/STL)
- Business Objects: Enterprise Peformance Management (C++, Java) [UPDATE]
What? I'm aiming to write about software development issues (continuing experiences with COM and C++, new adventures with .NET and agile techniques) and any other random thoughts and ideas I might have.
Why? The first category of posts should hopefully "put back" some small proportion of the useful information I've "taken" from the development community over the years. The second should relieve some of the burden from my long-suffering colleagues who are normally on the receiving end of my meanderings.
