PalmOS development pointers
Attentive readers will probably guess from the title of this post that I have resolved my PDA dilemma in favour of the Tungsten T3. Now I just have to wait for it to arrive...
In the meantime I've downloaded all the goodies I can from the PalmSource site (I'm now a registered developer, which was a process not entirely suited to someone (over-)eager to get their hands on an emulator whilst waiting for the real thing), grabbed a couple of things from PalmGear (and even managed to get addicted to SpaceTrader into the bargain :), and have even dabbled with SmallTalk (something I've been meaning to do for a while) via the Pocket SmallTalk IDE.
Now, though, I really want to get into some programming in a more familiar language, so was wondering if anyone had any experience of:
- Running PRC-Tools without Cygwin? I was thinking either with MinGW (as I've got Bloodshed-DevCPP installed), or with GCC over the now free MS Services for Unix (SFU)
- Doing J2ME development? My initial thought here was to use the SuperWaba SDK.
Any advice on these topics, or any other useful tips would be much appreciated. If I get sufficient feedback I might even put up another .Text article on the subject to collate the results.
