How not to mix a Brandy Alexander...
... or any shaken, creamy cocktail for that matter.
Do NOT use whipping cream, unless you actually want a rather nice alcholic mousse, that is!
For anyone who's interested the recipe, to make 2 "portions" you need:
- 4 shots brandy
- 1 shot dodgy chocolatish liquer I picked up on holiday in Majorca several years ago
- However much whipping cream is left over after using it on dessert earlier in the evening
As you can see, my approach to cocktail making is more of an art than a science, but even so there were a couple of rather ironic elements to all of this:
- When serving the aforementioned dessert, my wife and I actually read the whipping cream packaging to check it was suitable for the purpose, as we weren't quite sure.
- For the first time ever we had a discussion over what glasses should be used (wife: hi-ball, I suspect because she already had them in her hands; myself: martini 'cos I don't get to use them that often), which was entirely negated by the fact it ended up being eaten from bowls.
I'm sure there are some deep and meaningful parallels I can draw here to the software development process, but I'll leave that as "an exercise to the reader", as they say...
